Need Some Guidance
Jul 23, 2017 - 6:23 PM - by AddCurepls
Hi All -

I am struggling to focus, study and get things completed. I guess I have had this all my life but I have only tried to address it over the last couple years. I've tried supplements, reading books, and just recently taking medicine. I was opposed to medication but have had enough. The doctor had me on Welbrutin first, another anti depressant (Can't remember) and now I've settled in on Concerta. The medicine has definitely helped me.. it "motivates" me and does whatever it... Dad constantly clearing his throat!
Jul 23, 2017 - 11:01 AM - by AndreaB
Hi all.
My dad has been diagnosed with ADD long time ago, but there is something that's bothering me more and more lately and that's constant throat clearing. He just can't stop. He is doing that while watching movie, while talking to somebody, after eating... Literally always. We have tried to convince him to go to doctor, and he did, and the results were fine - no problem with stomach, no throat problem... But it's driving me and mom crazy! Can it just be a tick? Or? Honestly, it's... [Read More]

Behavioral therapy
Jul 22, 2017 - 8:42 PM - by Rapunzel16
Does anyone have their child in behavioral therapy? My son is 6 and we go once a week to work on coping skills for frustration and social skills (the school speech therapist has identified him as having pragmatic language difficulties)
The thing is, he is not very cooperative in these sessions. Up until the therapist enters the waiting room he is fine, then he starts giving one word responses, talking in an odd (silly) tone of voice, fidgeting, etc. I think it's anxiety as he can talk... [Read More]

negative self talk
Jul 21, 2017 - 3:07 PM - by ADD.cat
i've heard this is a struggle for many people with adhd and i've definitely identified it in myself. i have pretty low self esteem but it's only recently that i've become aware of it.

i spend a lot of my time alone and so most of if not all my thoughts are internal and when i'm in my own head i don't really filter through what's being "said/heard", it's kind of just a constant chatter, like leaving a radio on in the background. much of my thoughts are self deprecating and overly... Spinning my wheels in the mud again
Jul 21, 2017 - 2:17 PM - by MindBlind
It's that feeling we all know so well in this forum - shame. Recently I've had another one of my "I'm finally going to fix my life" phases which has finally fizzled down to a "Oh my God, what the hell did I get myself into?" phases. I'm about to start a masters course (which I'm really excited about) and my mental health has been generally stable. Things haven't been perfect, but they haven't been so bad either. However it seems that the self doubt and fear is creeping in and I'm back to my old... [Read More]
