I壇 say it痴 probably emotional awareness. Conscious or aware of emotions being experienced.

Re: List of emotions that feel good.

Quote:
Another standard philosophical objection to identification of mental states with brain states is that we can imagine non-human entities such as robots and space aliens that have the same mental states but different neu- rophysiology. Our reply is that the theory of emotional consciousness proposed here is not supposed to apply to all possible thinking beings, but only to humans and other similar terrestrial animals. If we ever encounter robots or space aliens that seem to have emotional consciousness, we would expect their experiences to be rather different from ours, because of the different character of their external sensors, internal sensors, and neural organization. The EMOCON mechanisms sketched in Fig. 3 would still constitute the best explanation of human emotional consciousness. A less speculative issue concerns the similarities and differences between human consciousness and that of non-human animals. This is an empirical question that cannot adequately be addressed until more is known about the full set of mechanisms that support human emotional experience and their closeness to analogous mechanisms in other animals. Similarities in functional units such as the thal- amus and amygdala must be weighed against differences such as the much greater capacity of the human pre- frontal cortex. See Panksepp (2005) for further discussion.

Re: List of emotions that feel good.

It is really interesting how some sounds can promote good feelings.

People with autism have different external and internal sensors,
different neural organization than neurotypical human beings.

That doesn't make us robots, but many do feel like aliens.
One autism forum is called The Wrong Planet because it feels like
we must surely belong somewhere else.

I was in my 30's when I began reading and trying to understand
why I was different ... alien. I was in my late 50's before I started
to learn about autism. And there it was. My answer.

There are three levels of emotional processing.

-Primary (genetic) lower limbic emotions
-Secondary upper limbic emotions
-Tertiary neocortical emotions

Primary emotions are primitive (genetic behaviors), while secondary emotions and tertiary emotions are more complex cognitive combination of emotional experiences.

Some of my posts in this thread refer to genetic primary emotions that feel good, while in other posts I am referring secondary and tertiary emotions that feel good.

I feel and think it is extremely important to distinguish between the three emotional processing levels in our brains when having discussions about "emotions"

Temple Grandin & Catherine Johnson have great book called "Animals Make Us Human".
The authors give a terrific perspective of the primary emotional response systems.

-terrific

Sometimes I wonder if animals have neurotypical emotions?
Do some animals have wonky wiring in the brain like those with autism?

All mammals including humans are born with these (genetic) primary emotional systems that feel good.

-SEEKING
-LUST
-CARE
-PLAY

How primary emotional systems that feel good "work" also depends on individual temperaments, ages, affective expereinces and cognitive experiences, etcs
.
