Re: What do you tend to hyperfocus on?

I hyperfocus on my computer a lot. I'm usually browsing crappy useless pages, but I cannot tear my attention away from it.

My sister thinks it's kinda funny when I hyperfocus because I'm zombie like.

My boyfriend hates it because I cannot stop doing what I'm doing to pay any attention to him.

Actually, they're not all useless, I do spend a lot of time researching my next big purchase. I spent almost 2 months reading up on running shoes of every type before deciding on what I needed, 3 months reading up on every computer review before getting my macbook, etc. etc. I'm not a shopaholic, by any means, I just want to make the right decision?

Re: What do you tend to hyperfocus on?

From my understanding tons of people that have ADD, have internet addiction. Funny thing it is still being debated if there is such a thing as internet addiction.

Re: What do you tend to hyperfocus on?

Mostly anything NOT related to my engineering course. Mostly anything on the topic of getting my cell phone to talk to my Linux machine or I can spend hours on the Ubuntu forums.....

Re: What do you tend to hyperfocus on?

i have wikihow on my google homepage, and that thing gets me stuck for hours.. i can start on one topic and click related links until i'm on something totally different and 4 hours have passed without my realizing. also, i've become obsessed with reading ADHD book and articles, even though i know almost all the information. one thing i absolutely cannot focus on is reading for class, if i don't like the book, it's like i'm illiterate. but give me a 300 page book that i'm reading for fun, and i can't stop till it's done. i'll sit there all day, fascinated.. but here i am right now.. when i have a paper due tomorrow for a book i didn't read.. this should be a fun night..

Re: What do you tend to hyperfocus on?

I find I take my meds to go to class and then listen to some fast paced music like lil wayne or offspring and really get into it and enjoy it and skip because of it. Also I wish I was prescribed these meds before I finished my english classes, sometimes I pull up word and start writing a paper about something that interests me...ive written a 15 page paper before for no reason at all lol.

Re: What do you tend to hyperfocus on?

internet/computer addiction hardcore
whatever new idea or curiousity that pops into my thoughts i promptly start researching it online, and often spend weeks of spending most of my internet-time researching whatever,
i find that this process gives me some of the most self-controlable mental stimulation i could find- its like having a crystal ball sitting in front of me on my desk...

it used to be shopping, oh my god i'd take for EVVVVER to make any decisions about what i would end up buying, then i'd get irritated at myself and just give in and go from indecisive to super impulsive and buy whatever I REALLY wanted..

i relate a lot to the girl above who said she researched shoes for over a month before she bought some... i've done this with my automatic espresso machine that was 700 bucks , my computer, car, all medicines i've ever taken, all mental issues i've experienced... trailing off here into **** that doesn't fit w/ the point sorry

its sad cuz sometimes i'll be in the interzone and i'll have to smack myself (mentally) because i end up zoning out on stupid **** like image gallaries, youtube videos, junk shareware software .. blahhhhhhhhhhh

ROFL at this one. I go to look up something on the net and end up endlessly following links from one page to the next... last night I forget how I got into it, but ended up checking out endless links in wikipedia on Trig, which went onto calclus, then onto cyrptography etc. It was a few hours before I realised that I'd forgotten what I was originally looking for

Wow this is like the summary of my life.
Once I go on to any news site [especially newsweek.com/nytimes] I get caught into a tangent and I keep moving from one link to the next.
I mean, it's useful if I was writing a paper on the politics of the African economy. But i'm not! It's always things that I could be doing later
