A whole jar of Nutella? Wow. That must have been loads of fun to clean up.

Yeah, loads of fun.

But hey, I found out it's easier to clean up than a jar of peanut butter...

I don't know...thanks to kids I've had to deal with both (just not in that quantity, thankfully) I'd have to call it a toss up.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

.. You put him to bed and pray the mess in the morning isnt too bad

.. Cleaning his room is out of the question, so you try something new and have him just clean 1/2..so he throws all the stuff from one side to the other and says "Im done!"

.. You tell him not to stand in front of the TV at least 12 times a day, within 60 seconds he is back in front of the TV. -- Sometimes I think im just going to get a recorder that says " Stand back away from the TV " that repeats every 60 seconds and just set it by the TV

.. You make him lunch and 20 mins later he comes back and says "Im starving when are we having lunch?"

.. Your littlest one is trying to take off his diaper so you tell him " No thats naughty, dont take off your undies!" and you turn around to see your ADHD son running around the living room naked wearing a superman cape!

.. When his school clothes only last a week because they get torn and stained

.. When school calls again because he wasnt paying attention when it was time to come in from recess and walked all the way around to the front of the school after a while.

.. School calls yet again that he is in the nurses office hurt or "sick" (9 times out of 10 he isnt sick, just wants to get out of class - He started this when he was 5!!)

I can sooo relate, to the "MOM..MOM..MOM"..What!?! ....What!?! ...ummm..never mind

I could go on and on lol This thread is so very funny, yet not ! lol

The only way your six year old gets off the bed is to do a somersault off the end, so he ends up standing.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

I never had children. I grew up believing that the mother's curse WORKS.

"One day you will have kids JUST LIKE YOU!" Yep. Enough to make me think REALLY hard about having kids.

I love reading this thread. Of course, it reminds me to send up another prayer of apology to my poor mother.

Never forget. "Normal" is just a setting on the washing machine.
Do you really want to be a setting on the washing machine?
If you do, wouldn't you rather be the spin cycle?

When the realization that the screwdriver on his pocketknife has caused more trouble that ANY of the sharper and more pointy options...what can I say, the kid loves to take things apart...now we work on him putting them back together..

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

Equates Thomas the tank engine call numbers with the sequence of Harry Potter books (Thomas = 1 = Socerers stone, Edward = 2 = Chamber of secrets etc)....

Me: What book is Gordon?
Son: Order of the Phoenix
Me: What Train is Chamber of Secrets?
Son: Edward (looking at me like I have three heads for even thinking this is extrodinary)

This kid can cross reference anything to anything else.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

After reading a lot of these, it made me realize Im not the only one with kids like mine.

My son got in trouble in Kindergarten for licking scented markers. In 1st grade his teacher sent home pencil erasers that I had bought him that were little crazy faced heads because he wouldnt stop playing with them. 2nd grade he would get up and read jokes out of a joke book for show and tell, but wouldnt get the joke. Last year in 3rd grade, he was always losing stuff, never bringing anything home, to the point I got him moved to the front of the classroom and his teacher made him a checklist so he wouldnt forget. My son has 4 lunchboxes because of his forgetfullness.

I can set clothes out for both of my kids and both will search through their drawers to find clothes. They both ask questions that have obvious answers.

I asked my son the other day if he would jump off a bridge if his sister did, and he was like yes to save her.....guess he didnt realize that both would die, hes concerned with saving his sister

Now if I can get my daughter to remember to flush the toliet after she uses it everytime, it will be a small victory for me!

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

He just asked my aunt if she was going to survive her knee surgery today. She looked at me... and started to giggle.
"I hope you do, because I like you and it would be cool to know a robot," he tells her afterwards. That got all of us laughing.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

We went to a baseball game last night, kind of a bit of an "end of summer" treat for everyone before DS's first day of kindergarten.

DS was quite excited about it, we got him a foam glove and he was having a blast! A local radio personality was invited to throw the first pitch, she was from a station we listen to quite often. Right after she did it, DS turned to me and said "If that's Crash and Mars, then we're at the radio station! They live here!"

I asked him 'what about the baseball game then?' and he looked at me with this little frown and said "Well, the baseball guys had to ask the radio guys if they could play here. The radio guys said it was okay."

He is so creative... Kept insisting that the field was just part of the radio station and that the radio people (Crash and Mars) lived on the diamond.
