Re: Time and Computers
I wouldn't say I'm disciplined, because I veer off course so easily when I'm working, but there are times when I can actually do what I need to do, usually out of fear of losing my job and not being able to pay my bills. There are definitely days I'd rather curl up with a book and tune out the rest of the world for sure.

Re: Time and Computers
Ok, I'm sorry, I'm kinda new here... but... so what you are all saying here is that my addiction to the internet is another symptom? My b/f teases me and calls me a "junkie" because I can sit for HOURS on the internet doing absolutely nothing... well, doing nothing or playing World of Warcraft.

With the internet, the seduction is probably due to a combination of interactivity, ability to socialize in settings that may be more ADHD-friendly, etc. Combine that with ADHD tendencies to lose track of time, to seek stimulation, to abhor boredom, to be easily distracted, to need to feel busy, etc., you can see why internet use can be problematic for many ADHDers! |

Re: Time and Computers
The biggest problem it causes for me is at work! I constantly have an internet window open behind my work window, and switch back and forth as often as I can without getting caught (doesn't always work).

Re: Time and Computers
I tend to have these 'treks' through wikipedia all night long, absorbing lots and lots of info.
Much more interesting than sleeping... |

Re: Time and Computers
I set myself traps for all kinds of things - If I take my laptop up to bed I leave the charger downstairs so I'm less likely to stay on the internet all night

Re: Time and Computers
I've always had problems focusing in school but it seems like when we got our first computer is when it all went to $**t. It lured my susceptible little brain in and wouldn't let go. It's like my mind finally found something that was quick enough to keep up with it. I remember my mom prying me away in a fury while I kicked and screamed. Nightmare
