Journaling has helped my ADHD
Originally when I was studying I had moments where I couldn't focus since I had so many thoughts in my head. So I just grabbed a piece of paper and wrote. Out of desperation I just wrote anything to get all the thoughts out of my head and somehow, it worked. It felt great and I was finally able to study.
It was just garbage thoughts so I always threw them out but sometimes I was lazy and just held onto my scrap paper. Over time I realized I had a good amount of scrap thoughts and I just decided to read it for fun. That's when I realized I could objectively see and analyze my thought patterns and habit loops. So I was then able to focus on these problems and finally get rid of them once and for all. Suddenly I realized I had a pretty good tool but then after some research, others do the same but much more refined. So that's when I started journaling for growth. I would have 1 for my reflections on the day of what I did and what didn't I do in terms of task. Then reflected on my thoughts on what I was happy with or wasn't. After reflecting I would write up a plan for tomorrow. This part was amazing for my adhd because I often have issue with the meds where I still didn't do what I was suppose to but since I had a night to visualize and plan out everything before it happened, it made me be more productive. It really has helped me out so much! I still have issues like consistency since I don't always write or follow through with my plan but even then it has really benefited me. I'm working on improving myself so that I become more consistent which I think is very achievable. Here's a video that explains the process better than I can Last edited by namazu; 11-18-19 at 03:20 AM.. Re: Journaling has helped my ADHD
Keep it up.
Ive been journalling in one form or another for 20 years- mostly on my blog atlassubluxation.wordpress.com but also in detailed landscape format reviews of my symptoms as they relate to myself, my work and my family. Ive fund this helps unravel the difficult to explain symptoms and their relationship to other problems like back and neck pain and bipolar. This helps enormously and is now yielding some quality information that is helping me terminate longstanding symptoms (after a few false starts) and properly understand why these things are happening. There have been so many unwell people who have taken this approach, with a view to making the results freely available for the good of all. Here's a recent example: http://medium.com/@jenbrea/a-new-dia...t-c966145b8f0c High quality info. Shes not medically trained. She just pays as close attention as she can.

Hey thanks, I'll check it out when I can
Wow for 20 years? How did you keep up the habit for so long? I keep having inconsistency issues that I am working on so any tips would be much appreciated |

Quote:
I have been inconsistent plenty of times. The issue was that I was having health issues and I was not able to find a clear answer-- so the journalling mostly consisted of aiming to keep comprehensive notes. When I was diagnosed ADHD, and later with an upper neck subluxation the matter became more complex. That's when I turned it into a blog. that gave me a chance to gain more insight into the problems, and also proved to be a great help in bringing more information my way.
