Depressed

I'm just sliding further and further into depression. I try to stem it but only by telling myself either "not to be depressed" or "not to act depressed" (eg telling myself to not care about what other people think, etc). It's not helping. I'm still functioning but not very well. I dread having to go to work tomorrow. I dread everything.

I know there are things I could do, like exercise, eating healthily, etc to make myself feel better but I can't do them. I don't really know if I can do them but I am not. There are so many things that time doing wrong but I feel helpless to change them. I don't sleep enough. I don't take my stimulants regularly. I don't exercise. I stress too much about work. I'm delaying doing things I need to do that then just sit on my to do list and stress me out.

I'm seeing my psychiatrist in about three weeks and I'll.discuss it with them then but I don't think they can help.me. I don't want to take anti depressants.

I'm so tired but sleeping never seems enough.

Re: Depressed

Omega 3 isn’t enough, just try some lexapro or something

Re: Depressed

I just don't want to do anything you know. I've been trying to take omega 3 and multivitamins regularly for months and I'm just not able to.

Re: Depressed

A bit out there I know but have you considered getting a dog? My life has been exponentially better since getting one. I have a labrador. He's crazy but so loving. Sometimes it's important to not feel judged. Only a dog can do that.

Re: Depressed

Try anti-depressants. If you have already tried one that didn't work then try another one. They can really help.

Is there any way you can find a friend to take you out for exercise? That ans lots of sunshine are likely to be the best for you right now. (the metabolic effects are rather impressive)
Ive had a very bad year in 2016, following my manic episode, and honestly I felt like"Monty Pythons Dead Parrot".
Ive read all the textbooks and all of John Ratey's work on exercise but i do get you-- starting on the exercise is the killer.

Re: Depressed

Fuzzy, I remember you've written about your job;
it doesn't seem fulfilling for you; can you afford to quit and find something that suits you?
even if it means a pay cut.

it's absolutely soul sucking to be pouring all of that energy into a job where you don't like the corporate culture and you don't get to do enough of the things you truly love and where your real skills can be used. ( if i remember correctly that's coding/ programmimg?)

consider part time work, i mean just from my experience full time + young child would have destroyed me, even if i loved the job.
