has wellbutrin helped anyone with social anxiety?

Wellbutrin Is an antagonist on Alpha-7 nicotinic receptor and that receptor controls the amygdala activity thus wellbutrin should reduce anxiety right?. Is it worth trying? Its also an antagonist on Alpha-3 beta-4 nicotinic receptor which I believe is another receptor that controls the amygdala activity? Please correct me if I am wrong. its an antagonist on many nicotinic receptors.

Re: has wellbutrin helped anyone with social anxiety?

Wellbutrin hasn’t made my anxiety worsen or lessened. Only Lexapro substantially reduces my Social Anxiety disorder (plus a benzodiazepine, Clonazepam/Klonopin).

I didn’t read your link...and I have no medical knowledge. I just am sharing my experience, as I’ve taken Wellbutrin for a long time and have anxiety disorders (including Social Anxiety disorder).

I read through your source and it seems like it focused on the antidepressant properties of wellbutrin, not so much on anti-anxiety. Wellbutrin is a "stimulating" medicine which is why its approved for adhd so I cant see how it necessarily works for anxiety considering anxiety doesnt tend to benefit from anything stimulating.

Re: has wellbutrin helped anyone with social anxiety?

Hi Lash107, could you explain more how Lexapro has helped your SAD? I have trouble getting the right med for SAD. I tried few for anxiety though not overly satisfied with them. To me ADD meds have helped my SAD more then any SAD med. Plus I feel they chip away the benefits of ADD meds.

The best I found so far to help in SAD is gabapentin (even thoug its not for SAD). I have found so far Depression/Anxiety meds to take away my emotions, resulting in me feeling 'nothing', like a dead soul wondering around plus they chip away my energy resulting in me being lethargic (the opposite of what ADD meds do)
