"ritalin sr" in generic form as "methylphenidate 20mg er"

hey guys,
i've been watching these forums for a while now, because i'd suspected i had adhd for about a year and was working on getting the guts to seek treatment. when i finally did get help, within two appointments with a new psych i was prescribed 20mg/day of ritalin sr. i made the mistake of going straight to the pharmacy before i asked this forum about generics, and was given this mallinckrodt brand of medicine. i took it with a protein bar 2 hours ago, and i feel nothing at all. this is the first time i am using a stimulant besides caffeine, and i am a 110lb 5' tall female. i think something is wrong. what would you do? call up your psych 3 hours after your appt.? or go back to walgreens? i am not panicking, because i am not dependent on any medications, but i do feel like i've wasted a good amount of money.
thank-you for reading!

Please note I'm really biased/finicky when it comes to generics for stimulant medications, but I absolutely hated when I first got Methylin ER chalk from Walgreens (when they'd previously given me Sandoz, following my request). The second time this happened even after I'd specified my sensitivity, I was not allowed to "return" or "exchange" them. So I was stuck for a month before I just decided to go elsewhere to get Sandoz (Costco, CVS) consistently.

They won't take your meds back as I recently found out with actavis. It sucks but either call for an earlier spot or wait it out.
