Lego and adhd
Good morning
My 7 years old son has been diagnosed with adhd. Although he cannot stay still most of the time, he is able to stay for over 1 hour following instructions in the booklet to build by himself a pretty complicated lego set. I know kids with adhd likes to play with legos like most kids but they usually like to create their own things. My son prefers to follow the instructions (wish it was the same for school...) so i m wondering if he really has adhd? most people say he doesn’t have it. Maybe i am still in the denial phase ![]() |

Re: Lego and adhd
ADHD isn't a lack of focus. It's difficulty with shifting focus and staying focused
on what we need to do. If we're enjoying ourselves with a game or a new hobby it's very difficult to shift our attention to something that we need to do. If we're doing things like housework or anything that's not really interesting, other thoughts capture our attention and we leave the first job half done and go on to the next thought, often leaving 5 or 6 things unfinished.

Re: Lego and adhd
exactly; to give you an example, I've always had a terrible time following instructions at any type of job. But also, I taught myself how to crochet.
