Magnesium

It seems that a lot of people have recommended taking a magnesium supplement when taking Vyvanse, and some also say to add L-Tyrosine.

I tried that for a bit, and while at first it did seem to work I noticed after I stopped taking it that the Vyvanse actually worked better off them. I was taking them at night, at least 8 hours after taking Vyvanse.

Has anyone else noticed this? Should I try taking it in the morning with my meds instead?

Re: Magnesium

I always added magnesium when I felt to have a need for it.
This usually happened late afternoon or early evening.
I think 300-400mg are enough. More of it does not have another effect.
I needed less magnesium with Vyvanse than with Ritalin.

Re: Magnesium

Doesn't magnesium make you sleepy? I know it can be used to help insomnia.

Re: Magnesium

I was taking 250mg of chelated magnesium. I took it at night, I'm not sure it made me sleepy exactly but I think it did improve my sleep quality a little.

Re: Magnesium

No, it does not make sleepy but reduces some minor side-effects.

Re: Magnesium

I take a liquid form of magnesium,400 mg, daily and it has helped with the severe joint pain that Vyvanse causes. If I don't take the magnesium for a few days, I can really tell a difference. The joint pain comes back.

Do you know if thats one of the known benefits of magnesium? I was just diagnosed with a form of autoimmune arthritis and I could use all the help I can get . I take it already but im curious how you decided on 400mg.

Re: Magnesium

I think 300-400mgs is the recommended daily intake for Magnesium. Some people consume up to twice that amount however.

Re: Magnesium

Sarah, I know 2 people with RA who consumed Turmeric to help with their symptoms, and both felt great relief. I don't know how long it took to feel it working, maybe a week.
