Talking Play and ADHD

I love to play. - Let me clarify that while I include games and goofing around in my play, much of this is just doing something that I enjoy, being in the moment, and appreciating my circumstances and the people I am with.

I know that when I am playing at work, with my kids, with the dogs, or even at a somber event, I am able to focus and be at my best. I feel amused, more self-aware, and awake (A big one for me)

I am wondering what experiences other people with ADHD notice when they play. Or even how you play.

Re: Play and ADHD

I love playing all the time! I also feel most comfortable at play.

I can relate to the things you listed, for me it also involves joking around, creating something fun out of something boring(like by using objects), or playing an interesting "game" of sorts.

Re: Play and ADHD

I'm like a little kid. Joking laughing and having a good time.
When Iwent tomy aunt's house in Virginia years ago there was snow on the gorund and being that I'm born and raised in South Florida, I had not been in snow before.
When I go to her house there was this 5 year old neighbor kid pplaying in the snow. so I went over introduced myself to his mom and dad and started playing in the snow with him. we had an absolute blast. It was hard to tell who was the adult and who was the kid, but I could care less!
That was 16 years ago and I can remember as if it were yesterday!
