Your opinion please. Do you think I have ADD/ADHD? Results from a test.

The forum member, choselife, recent thread about whether or not she has ADD/ADHD spurred me to post this about my own case.

I took a ADHD self-assessment test and below are my answers to the questions. Based on this, I'd like to get your input about whether or not I have an attention deficit disorder.

The options I had in answering the questions were: Rarely, Sometimes, Often, Very Often, Excessively. Here's how it turned out for me:

- How often do you make careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities or not pay close attention to details? Answer: Very Often

- How often do you not listen (or space out) when spoken to directly? Answer: Excessively

- How often do you have trouble focusing on tasks or activities? Answer: Very Often

- How often do you miss instructions and fail to finish work, school, or chores? Answer: Very Often

- How often do you have trouble organizing your tasks or activities? Answer: Sometimes

- How often do you avoid, dislike or complain about doing things that take a lot of mental effort and last for a long period of time? Answer: Very Often

- How often do you lose things needed for tasks and activities (e.g. notes, pencils, books, or tools)? Answer: Rarley

- How often do you become easily distracted? Answer: Sometimes

- How often do you have trouble with forgetfulness in daily activities? Answer: Excessively

- How often do you fidget or squirm in your seat? (bouncing, tapping your foot, drumming your fingers etc.) Answer: Excessively

- How often do you get up from your seat inappropriately when remaining in seat is expected? Answer: The direct answer to this is "Sometimes" but if the question were, "How often would you like to get up from your seat?" The anwers would be Very Often.

- How often do you feel or act very restless? Answer: Sometimes

- How often do you have trouble staying quiet while enjoying activities? Answer: Sometimes

- How often do you seem to be "on the go" or act as if you are "driven by a motor"? Answer: Rarely

- How often do you talk excessively? (Dominating conversations, not allowing others a chance to speaking? Answer: Very Often

- How often do you have trouble waiting your turn? Answer: Sometimes

- How often do you interrupt or intrude on others? (Dominating conversations, not allowing others a chance to speak...) Answer: Very Often.

- how often do you blurt out answers before questions have been finished? Answer: Sometimes

What do you think?

Thank you!

There are no tests for adhd. There are certainly no on line tests for adhd. Online test results are convoluted and shady. If every online test I took was right I would have multiple rare cancers a penis and male pattern baldness.

Re: Your opinion please. Do you think I have ADD/ADHD? Results from a test.

I don't think coming on this forum and asking a whole bunch of strangers who you don't know to give you an opinion as to whether or not you have ADD/ADHD based on an online test which may or may not even be accurate is really the way to go, we cannot possibly give a grounded opinion based on that and even if we could it wouldn't hold any weight because a lot of us are not professionals.

My suggestion is to see a psychologist or a psychiatrist and get a professional opinion/diagnosis, you could also go to adult ADD/ADHD support groups mingle with a few people there and figure things out.

I guess, based on your answers it might be worth getting evaluated by a professional (assuming that these issues seriously impair your life).

Re: Your opinion please. Do you think I have ADD/ADHD? Results from a test.

I agree with Fuzzy, certainly I think you would have good reason to see a specialist for evaluation.

It might also help you to look around the forums for yourself to see if you recognize your own symptoms in other people's posts. There's a thread called "you know you have ADHD when..." (or something like that) that you might find particularly useful.

But symptoms similar to ADHD are also caused by a bunch of other things, other mental disorders, and even some physical illnesses and allergies.

So the other posters are also right, no online test or forums can tell you whether or not you actually have ADHD.

Best of luck!!
