Re: Anafranil or Venlafaxine?

Venlafaxine was waste of time for me, i used it at higher doses like 225-300mg
did nothing for me(almost 5 years ago)
i can say that bupropion is better than venlafaxine due to my experiences
There was some articles and info texts which were showing that venlafaxine is inhibiting reuptake of dopamine at higher doses
Also bupropion inhibits reuptake of dopamine very weakly

i read some articles which underlies that Anafranil is best choice for resistant OCD but didnt read much about it's affectiveness on depression

By the way i had undiagnosed Bipolar II until 1month ago , so things may be different for you

Anafranil is an tricyclic anti depressant, TCAs can cause side effects easier than new generation anti-depressants ( SSRI&SNRI)

TCAs' Pharmacodynamics and binding profiles are various

but if we try to summarize anafranil
we can say that it is very similar to a SNRI anti-depressant

TCAs lost their preferability since new generation anti-depressants relased
