This forum is on and off like a light switch at the moment, I can't speak for the rest of the moderators but I personally don't know why this is :grouphug:

OyVeyKitty started a temporary forum for when this forum is down, if you want it I can PM the link to you for if (when) this forum goes out again :grouphug:

I admit, sometimes when the forum goes out I assume it's something I did :o

Unfortunately, the staff has no idea including the administration. It all depends on David the site owner and has been mentioned.

I fear the site owner has missed the upgrade window. 3.7.4 is an ancient version of vBulletin and upgrading a site of this size to vBulletin 5 is likely to be a major undertaking.

The vBulletin forum mentioned back in 2016 that vBulletin's own professional hosting admins were forced to roll back a 3.7 -> 5 upgrade because of the size of the database.

I suspect this is the problem here..... the forum didn't upgrade over many years and is now orphaned with a huge database on geriatric versions PHP and MySQL. As the forum continues to grow, the expense and complexity of upgrading increases exponentially while the stability decreases linearly.

At some point the site will fail and recovery won't be possible.

I feel really sad about that.... this has been a fantastic resource for me over the years and I wouldn't be where I am now without it.

Maybe when this forum does fail, OyVeyKitty's forum can become the new ADDF? Just a suggestion :)

Yes that would be great but I think it would require a lot more volunteers to run that site as we can't expect oveykitty to do all the hard work. Not just in terms of moderating but also maintaining the site. I'm not volunteering though so I can't expect anyone else to do it either...

If this is true and the right person is reading this PM me. I don’t know what this post means. I see expense though. I may be able to help if it makes sense or if you want to sell

Hate to see this place go
