How do you handle rages? |
|

I'd really like to know how you handle rages. My little guy is still having impulse issues and tonight had another rage. It's been a little while since he's had one--probably a month or more so it took me by surprise.
I picked them up from school and had ordered pizza for carryout. We usually do delivery but I wanted something different tonight. They didn't know about the change. When I told them in the car we had to go pick up the pizza, he freaked out. I mean calm to rage... [Read More]

Well, We do want to have children, and soon, since we have been together for 4 years. I am diagnosed with SAD and recently ADD(on meds for dep) and my man is diagnosed ADHD, Tourette, Insomnia . We both have /had addiction problems and alcoholism on both sides of the family. I am worried that if we have a child it will be sooo mess up.... on the other hand, it will never be able to hide, lie and cheat to us, beacuse both of us have already been there, and done that, and can easily see if someone... Should there be consequences? |

I understand that forgetfulness is a symptom of ADHD and that there's little anyone can do to make it go away. Something I have been struggling with, though, is should there be consequences (maybe not as harsh as those for a "normal" child) for forgetting to bring home text books, misplacing papers at school, etc...? Or is it just something that should be dismissed as part of his disability?
I feel like I should do *something* about it, I just don't know what.

What do I do now that it's "gone"? |

I wrote in a previous thread that I started that in the last 1.5 weeks, my lifelong ADD-like (I'm still in the very early stages of testing) symptoms have suddenly very much diminished or disappeared. At first I thought this was an indication that if I can do all these things now, then I surely was able to do them before and just wasn't trying.
Now that I think about it, this period of sudden normalcy just makes me realise how non-functional the previous 24 years were in comparison...... [Read More]

I've got one of those 'is it just me" questions.
There have been times I've looked at some of the symptoms of ADHD and I can't relate to them or they seem a bit hazy.
This morning I was in my kitchen making a cup of coffee and a bun with jam. I poured the coffee, put in the suger then turned to get a knife to cut my bun. There was a knife in the sink, I picked it up, it needed washing, I washed the dishes, turned around and remembered the coffee and bun.... [Read More]
